At UCLA, the retina division works together cohesively as a unit to provide an unrivaled level of care to our patients. The fellowship experience benefits from a broad spectrum of vitreoretinal pathology only available at a premier tertiary referral center in a major metropolitan area. Working alongside attending physicians in both the clinic and operating room, our fellows will learn to successfully manage these complex patients in a supportive, welcoming environment.
The UCLA-Stein Eye Institute Vitreoretinal Surgical Training Program provides trainees with a state of the art education based on a foundation of clinical/basic science research, physical examination, ground breaking multi-modal imaging, and cutting edge surgical instrumentation. The program is designed to provide a graduated experience leading to independent responsibility in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases through both didactics and hands-on experience.
We take pride in the level of faculty involvement in our fellowship training program – the majority of the Stein Eye faculty supervise fellow training at one or more of our satellite sites. This high level of faculty commitment to fellow training ensures that our fellows will receive the maximum education and benefit from each patient interaction. We hope that this website helps you learn more about our training program and conveys how special our training program truly is. We look forward to meeting you on the interview day.

“Our fellows are magnificent. They graduate as people that we would want to take care of us. They have a great reputation nationally. As a result, we get phone calls from people around the country every year looking for our fellows.”
